Alex is a bilingual lawyer of Cuban origin. Alex is originally from Florida and moved to Indiana to play football at Hanover College in 1999. Alex graduated from law school in 2004 and worked as a law clerk at Mitchell, Hurst, Jacobs, and Dick for the majority of his legal career. In 2007, he graduated from Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis and began working as a trial attorney for the Marion County Public Defender Agency. Alex rejoined Bill Hurst's firm in 2011 and now focuses his practice on plaintiff's personal injury cases.

From 2015 to the present, Alex has been named a Super Lawyers Rising Star. In 2014, he received the Indiana Lawyer's Leadership in the Law - Up and Coming Lawyer award. He graduated from the Indianapolis Bar Association's Bar Leader Series - Class X and has served the Indianapolis Bar Association in a variety of capacities, including past Chair of the Solo/Small Firm Committee, Diversity Job Fair, Social Chair and Secretary of the Young Lawyers Division, Diversity Job Fair, the Strategic Planning Committee, Litigation Section, Professionalism Committee, Distinguished Fellows, and Membership Task Force. For his continued work with the Young Lawyers, Alex received the Distinguished Leadership Award from the Indianapolis Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division in 2016.

His ISBA involvement includes service on the ISBA Diversity Committee, the ISBA Standing Committee on Latino Affairs, and the "Talk to a Lawyer" Spanish Line Program. Alex received the ISBA Trailblazer - Abriendo Caminos Award in 2015, which was sponsored by the ISBA's Latino Affairs Committee. Alex is still a member of the ISBA's Latino Affairs Committee.

Alex believes in giving back to the community and has collaborated with well-known Indianapolis organizations such as the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic, the Julian Center, and the Muslim Legal Clinic. Alex worked almost exclusively at the Julian Center with Latina women who had been victims of domestic violence, and she was able to assist all of them in finalizing their divorces or obtaining custody of their children. Alex aided a number of undocumented Latinos on their path to citizenship as a volunteer attorney for the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic.

Alex has also spoken on behalf of the Indianapolis Bar Association at three naturalization ceremonies. He has also spoken about undocumented worker rights at the Latino Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Alex was the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Emberwood Center (an addiction treatment facility that serves a significant portion of the Hispanic community) and the Vice Chairman of Addiction Services for the Board of Directors of Mental Health America of Indiana.

Alex has given CLEs on a variety of topics related to representing and protecting the rights of Latinos and Hispanic immigrants. He has previously presented on the same or similar topics for the ITLA, as well as on a variety of other topics for the ITLA and IBA. Alex has also written articles on topics such as premises liability for the Verdict (an ITLA publication).

He is currently the chairperson of the ITLA Young Lawyers Section. During his time as Chair of the Young Lawyers Division, he organized a number of community service events, including numerous trips to Gleaners Food Bank and donations to the Julian Center. Alex also represented the ITLA as Amicus Counsel in Escamilla v. Sheil Sexton. Alex received the Max Goodwin Young Lawyer of the Year Award and the President's Award on behalf of the ITLA in 2016. Alex is a member of the American Association of Justice and the National Trial Lawyers Association.

He is also licensed to practice law in Florida. He lives in Indianapolis, IN, with his wife and two children.
