DAWN M. DELL'ACQUA is a San Diego native who attended California Western School of Law. Ms. Dell'Acqua has been admitted to the California Bar and the United States District Court for the Southern District of California since June 1996. She is a Certified Specialist in Family Law with the California State Board of Legal Specialization. Ms. Dell'Acqua worked as a lead attorney for the County of San Diego's District Attorney's Office Bureau of Child Support Enforcement from 1996 to 1999. (now known as The Department of Child Support Services). Between 1999 and 2002, when she opened her own law firm, Ms. Dell'Acqua worked in private practice with a Family Law Specialist.
Dawn M. Dell'Acqua is a volunteer settlement conference judge and a court-appointed attorney for the Office of Assigned Counsel. She is also an authorized Discovery Referee. Ms. Dell'Acqua is an estate planning panel attorney for the Teamsters Union (served through the Western Conference Services Legal Trust Fund). She has also served as an adjunct professor at Cuyamaca College.
Ms. Dell'Acqua has served as President and Board Member of the San Diego Family Law Bar Association, as well as a presenter at various Family Law seminars. She recently proposed legislation, which was supported by Assemblywoman Shirley Weber and became AB2338. This legislation, which the governor of California signed into law on January 1, 2021, amended sentencing guidelines for Family Law contempt cases to allow for the imposition of probation by judicial officers. She is the President and Board member of the Naval Academy Parent Club San Diego, as well as the Administrative Advisor to Gamma Phi Beta Sorority at the University of San Diego. Ms. Dell’Acqua is married with two children, both serving in the United States Navy. In her free time, she enjoys books, travel, and football games.
