The Fund Distributor Agreements team (FD Agreements) is responsible for driving and completing contract negotiations in support of the US Mutual Fund, Retail Cash, and 529 product suites. Our scope includes new contractual arrangements and amendments to existing relationships driven by client requests, regulatory changes, and new product launches. We partner closely with Relationship Managers, Legal, Compliance, and Operations teams to negotiate contracts resulting in the best possible commercial outcomes for fund shareholders while ensuring. compliance with fiduciary and regulatory obligations. We cover a broad range of fund distributors, including broker-dealers, registered investment advisors, insurance companies, and distribution platforms.

Job Description

  • Manage the onboarding and contract negotiation lifecycle for a specific product line, including initial due diligence processes, legal contract drafting and negotiation
  • Facilitate and coordinate with internal teams across functions
  • Ensure that contractual documentation is completed and filed in compliance with internal procedural and regulatory requirements
  • Produce metrics and trend analysis observed in the negotiation process
  • Develop expertise in the product line, governing regulatory regimes and client profiles
  • Support the sales team with training and contractual documentation queries
  • Find opportunities for process and client experience improvements

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to draft and negotiate simple legal contracts
  • Confirmed project management skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills that can be modified based on one’s audience (e.g., Relationship Manager, Legal Department)
  • Motivated by steep learning curves and working with technology
  • Paralegal or JD
  • Familiarity with mutual fund products and regulations is a plus


Proficiencies:

  • Self-starter with the ability to independently manage tasks and workload
  • Able to work effectively and efficiently on multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining the highest standard and attention to detail
  • Think critically, identify and raise issues and risks in a legal contract or process
  • Values working in a collaborative way and understands the importance of strong working relationships
  • Strongly proficient in standard software (e.g. Excel) and data management
